Ancient fishing and clay idols

Vesa Lahtinen guided a young people’s workshop on ancient fishing as part of the Savonlinna Provincial Museum’s Autumn Bonfire event. Workshop participants experimented with building an ancient fishing rod and using it to fish. The workshop was held in a goahti built in the museum’s yard and its surrounds. During the event, which was open to the public, everyone was free to try their hand at building an ancient clay idol under the guidance of ceramic artist Marianne Ketolainen. Around two thousand people attended the Autumn Bonfire event.
